EPUB Quick Look questions

How do I get EPUB thumbnails in Finder?

Book Preview includes a thumbnail extension that generates covers for supported files. Enable the Book Preview Quick Look extensions in System Settings if thumbnails or previews are missing. Thumbnail availability depends on the file and its cover artwork.

Why is my EPUB Quick Look preview not working?

Check that Book Preview is installed and its Quick Look extensions are enabled. Close the preview, relaunch Finder, and try a different DRM-free file. If only one file fails, it may be unsupported, damaged, or protected by DRM. Contact Parotid if the problem persists.

Is Book Preview an ebook library or a bookstore?

Book Preview works with ebook and comic files you already have. On Mac, it extends Finder previews so you can inspect a file without importing it into an ebook library. It does not supply books.

Can I preview EPUB files on iPhone and iPad?

Yes. The companion app supports previews in the Files app on iPhone and iPad, including ebooks and comic archives.

Are my books uploaded to a server?

No. Files are processed locally on your device. Book Preview does not collect your files or require an account.
